We’re excited to welcome all Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) students back to school on Tuesday, September 8. Below, parents, families and caregivers will find important information they need to know for the beginning of the school year.

School Information for Parents, Families and Caregivers

Our School Year Information website is updated for the 2026-2027 school year. Please take a few moments to review this information.

  • The information applies to all students in the WRDSB
  • School-specific information will be sent out by each school through their regular channels

Parents, families and caregivers are encouraged to explore the School Year Information website to learn more about important dates, busing and school safety.

Important – Action Required

The Action Required page provides information to parents, families and caregivers about forms and paperwork that need to be completed and returned to your school at the beginning of the school year.

Elementary Class Assignments

To ensure the protection of student privacy, parents, families and caregivers can use School-Day to view your child’s classroom information starting Monday, September 7, 2026. Please log in at your convenience and follow the steps to access this information.

If you do not use School-Day, class lists will be available at the school on the first day of classes, Tuesday, September 8. Teachers will have the class lists available on the first day of school and can help determine the location of your child’s classroom.

Student Transportation

Bus schedules are now available. For instructions on viewing details about your child’s bus information:

Student and Family Support Office

The Student and Family Support Office provides additional support to parents, families, and caregivers, assisting them in navigating our system when they have concerns or questions about their child’s education beyond the school level.

While the Student and Family Support Office will offer additional support in navigating concerns, the Office will refer to and encourage parents, families and caregivers to follow the Process for Addressing Concerns.

Information Technology Updates as of July 1, 2026

As a part of our ongoing efforts to support the privacy and cybersecurity infrastructure for students and staff, as of July 1, 2026 the WRDSB has implemented changes that aim to:

  • Strengthen cybersecurity
  • Protect student and staff information
  • Support the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI)

What Has Changed?

The changes include:

  • WRDSB-approved AI tools only on WRDSB networks
  • WRDSB-managed Chromebook sign-in controls
  • Reducing risks with browser extensions

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)

Last year, the WRDSB launched GenAI Tools and Guidelines for Students. These guidelines were developed in consultation with parents, caregivers, families, students, educators and staff, and support the integration of GenAI into classroom learning.

Need to Register?

Parents, families and caregivers can register their child online with the WRDSB on our Registration page.

Please refer to the online registration process to learn how to:

  • Create an account
  • Submit your registration
  • Reach out to your school for assistance

Please note: A computer is required to create a registration account. Once the account is created, you can access the information on a mobile device.

Use the school finder tool to find your child’s home school.

New to Canada?

If you are new to Canada, please contact our International Admissions office at international@wrdsb.ca for help registering your student. Our International Admissions Office provides support for parents and families where:

  • A parent has a Work Permit
  • A parent has a Study Permit
  • The student or parent is a Refugee Claimant
  • The student or parent has a Temporary Resident Permit
  • The student is In Application for Citizenship or Permanent Residence

Our Welcome Centre for Newcomers is open to support Secondary students enrolling with our board. Math and English assessments for secondary students are completed at the Welcome Centre and are done by appointment only. Please contact the Welcome Centre to book an appointment:
