The safety of students, staff and parents/caregivers is of prime importance at Queen Elizabeth P.S. We are sending home a reminder to our families regarding the safe use of our school parking lot and streets in close proximity to Queen Elizabeth Public School.

Our school parking lot is closed to parents for drop off and pick up from

8: 30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 3:10 – 3:30 p.m. This guarantees that our students that walk to and from school will not have to worry about traffic when they enter or leave the school from parking lot zones.

Here are some helpful tips for places to park;

Hoffman Street – You are never permitted to stop/park your vehicle on Hoffman Street in front of the school. Stopping for even a few seconds to drop off or pick up your child is not permitted and you will be ticketed. There is minimal parking on Hoffman Street past the school.

Southdale Ave – You are permitted to park on Southdale Ave. (right across from the school). This is a long street with a large number of parking spots. Children dropped off in this location would cross Hoffman Street with the student crossing guards( available in the am) or with the adult guard on the corner of Highland and Hoffman. NEW No Stopping signs will be put on Southdale Ave., preventing vehicles from parking too close to Hoffman Street (there have been problems with vehicles stopped/parked at the intersection of Hoffman & Southdale). Parking will be available 15 metres from the corner, behind these signs.

Kehl Street – Is directly east of the school and has numerous parking spots. Students dropped off on Kehl Street could enter the school yard directly off of Kehl Street.

Highland Road. Numerous parking spots are available on the North side of Highland Road (towards Stirling Avenue), beyond our adult crossing guard and beyond the No Stopping signs. Students dropped off in this area would cross Hoffman Street with our adult crossing guard.

The south side of Highland Road (right beside the school) is a more complex area! There are No Parking/Stopping signs posted in the bus loading zone. On the Westside of the street (apartment side), down the loop, No Stopping signs have been added and cars cannot be parked between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. These were added because of the danger for students to cross Highland Rd. to get to a vehicle. Cars are not permitted to stop or park in these areas and will be ticketed.

We  hope that this note makes it very clear where you are permitted to stop/park/drop off and pick up students. Unlike some schools, we have a variety of areas to park near the school. Please consider using one of the areas other than Highland Road to drop-off and pick-up your children, as this area is very congested. Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions.
